The title will be It's That Girl Again and the label/release stuff is getting locked up. Here's what we can say for the time being.

Track listing (subject to change, of course!):

1. If Not Now Then When
2. Someone for Everyone
3. Everybody's On The Move
4. Tear in My Eye
5. Love Lies Bleeding
6. Blame It On The Summer
7. It's That Girl Again
8. I Must
9. Two Islands
10. Winners
11. They Know Nothing About Us
12. Clear Horizon
13. Amelki Smiech ["Amelka's Laughter"]

To connect the dots with previous posts: "If Not Now Then When" was co-written with Kevin Robinson. "Someone for Everyone" has Mark Reilly on backing vocals, "Clear Horizon" is a new version of the song from the Best of comp ten years ago (in a much more natural Basia style) and "Winners" has a Carnaval feel. "Amelki" is in Polish (apologies to Polish speakers, the accent-S would not reproduce here) and Danny's description of it as "Come To Heaven" meets "Rachel's Wedding" makes sense, actually!

More information as it develops.
BasiaWeb: http://www.basiaweb.com

Danny plays in London next week at Pizza Express

It's time again for Danny to sit in with his bro Peter White and saxophonist Jaared at Pizza Express in Soho, London. It's been about three years since they started doing these shows, and reports always rave about them. I think anyone who has seen Danny play live-- especially during the 2005 tour-- would say that it's something you should definitely check out. More info here.
BasiaWeb: http://www.basiaweb.com

The album is done.

Yes.

Danny says:

"We finally finished mixing on friday-13 songs, the 13th
having a Polish lyric (musically its somewhere between
"Come to heaven' and 'Rachel's wedding' if you can
imagine that!)

"When Basia was in Poland recently she recorded her
friends & family singing along which we included in
the song giving it a Polish singalong party vibe. The
song is a celebration of the arrival of her nephew's
newborn baby daughter.

"It's a nice feeling for the record to be finished-the
next thing is to master it and then work on the sleeve.
Release/record companywise we're still working on but
as soon as there's some definite news I'll let you
know."

My heart's all pitter patter, I don't know about you reading this right now.

Also, for those lucky ducks across the pond:

"Peter was over recently and I'll be playing with him
at the end of April." Go see him please and better yet, cam the performance for those of us not so lucky!
BasiaWeb: http://www.basiaweb.com

Music section up

Music, lyrics and random bits of info can now be had on our Music section. The main releases have been covered and the others will be following behind. There's also a handy roundup of all the known new album info (no, there's nothing new since the last time except that Peter White mentions on his site that he just got back from working on it).

Surely something went awry in the course of putting this together so do let me know either in comments or via email what that something is. I also would love to know more trivia, Polish punctuation (and missing Polish lyrics-- I lost my copy of TSI when moving :( ), lyrics to "Springtime Laughter" from some published source (like sheetmusic-- something official, not fan generated) and how to get the main menu there to look more like the main menu here. You know, the basics. ;)
BasiaWeb: http://www.basiaweb.com

"Best Friends" live

I'm willing to bet this is on Letterman in 1990. It remains one of the best interviews ever conducted with her, so I was thrilled when the author, Ron Fell, granted permission to reproduce it on BasiaWeb. We present it here for the first time in seventeen years.

Ron says: "While owner/publisher/editor of The Gavin Report, I was the writer who did the centerpiece interview of Basia for the tour program of the 1990 London Warsaw New York world tour...It was a fairly extensive Q&A for its time in her career and I remain a huge fan of hers. The interview was conducted in the Spring of ’90 the same weekend she was in New York for her VH1 documentary which became the multi-track video she made at that time.

Thanks again for your gracious permission, Ron!
BasiaWeb: http://www.basiaweb.com

Happy Birthday, Danny!

Today is August 26 and that would be Danny White's birthday.
Hope you have a good one Danny!

BasiaWeb: http://www.basiaweb.com

Positivity

The thirteen new songs will be with Dave Bascombe (master mixer of The Sweetest Illusion, Depeche Mode, and maaaany others) this November for final mixing. While things can and do change, for now a spring 2008 release and a tour over summer and fall look more likely than ever. There's some strong contenders on the label front; keep tuned here toward the end of the year for solid specifics on where and when, but wheels are definitely in motion.

This is all good news and brings us ever closer to that elusive new work!
BasiaWeb: http://www.basiaweb.com

Matt Bianco performance footage, '84-'85

Some great vintage clips of MB miming on what looks like European TV. Quite a crowd reaction on the "More Than I Can Bear" clip, and another performance of "Whose Side Are You On" where Danny is quite literally elevated with his white grand piano. Now that the main portion of the site runs through Blogger, we have some new features. Comments can be left about posts and while they will be moderated (gotta keep the spammers in check), there will be that degree of interactivity that the site has been lacking. Posts are labeled now too, so you can see all posts on any one topic at once. I posted some of the most useful label links at right for you to hit right away, but there are many others hiding about the old posts, too. There are some other features I'd like to implement as time goes on, but we'll deal with those later!

As I said before most of the old pages on the old site will return at a later time in a new, better-organized form-- those are the links grayed out at right. And inevitably there will be the occasional glitch or unattended detail in our first days-- do let me know what you encounter and we can make things better, together. (Aww!) Finally, thanks to you the fans for your patience as I dealt with family loss and personal life upheaval which required me to put fandom on the back burner for a while.

Now, back to supporting Basia and Danny!
BasiaWeb: http://www.basiaweb.com

Everything Must Go!

The last of the Matt Bianco '04-'05 merchandise is on markdown. Many of the missing parts of the site will resurface in a different form, so don't be too upset if your contributions are missing-- particularly the 'gig reports' sections which will be reborn in a more comprehensive Live page on the new site at some point in the future.

I'm also going to be working through the backlog of submissions-- so if you have submitted anything in the past year and not seen it, you will very soon after the change-over.

New features and such will be detailed in the following days!
BasiaWeb: http://www.basiaweb.com

Matt Bianco clips

Here's Matt Bianco on Top of the Pops. <strike>Here's Matt Bianco miming with gusto on a European show</strike>.
