"Basia unplugged, almost"
Radio Mercury Poznan
Translation: Krysia Szurek
For the last time she sang in Poznan in the Arena hall 15 years ago. But then she came with a huge band and charmed several thousands of listeners. Last Wednesday we heard Basia again, and it was as if time stopped.
The same bright voice, with rich acoustic color, huge scale and dynamism, same positive vibrations. This time the artist sang in the university hall, ending a short tour in our country. The tickets were sold out already few weeks in advance.
Few dozens of people used the opportunity to get standing-room tickets just before the concert, to be able to listen the songs from Basia's four studio albums, especially the hits like "Drunk on love", "Baby you're mine", "Cruising for bruising", "Time and tide." There were also some compositions from the newest bestselling album It's That Girl Again and even "Half A Minute"- a hit that the vocalist sang while still in the group Matt Bianco.
The artist was accompanied by an intimate instrumental band: keyboard, guitar, trumpet and two backing vocalists. The musicians were doing their best, also showing nice instrumentals. Not always the songs, known from the album recordings were shining brightly. But gentle, jazzy, sometimes spare accompaniment, was compensated by fantastic performance. Precise, multi-vocal sound were showing songs fairness.
Basia with her naturalness, easily established the connection with the audience, that reacted warmly for older hits. There were no fancy lights nor choreography, no drag acts nor stage jokes. But several times Basia roused the audience to applaud loudly and clap their hands rhythmically. At the end of the concert there were 3 encores with "Reward" dedicated to the audience.
Her music gives the listeners joy, optimism and makes them smile. It's that little or that much!
