We haven't seen each other for 4 years. The last time while promoting Matt Bianco's Matt's Mood. Basia Trzetrzelewska is in Warsaw! I was afraid she would change her mind at the last minute, but she came. It's a private visit but I asked her for an interview for Golden Hits Radio and Smooth Jazz Cafe Radio. I could feel butterflies in my stomach when I received the message from the receptionist: "Mark, there is a guest waiting for you." I ran. It's not very far. When I saw Basia all the memories came back. All the best memories. The International Music Market MIDEM in Cannes in 1987. Standing in a queue at the airport I noticed a familiar girl. I went up to her, kindly introduced myself and we became best friends from the beginning. That's all her. Straightforward. The first interview. I was blushing. And then letters, albums, singles, postcard greetings from all over the world. It's for me. And the success and millions of records sold for Basia. And then long, long silence. It's been 15 years since the release of The Sweetest Illusion. The new album is going to be released in February 2009. Another world, another reality. I'm listening to it right now. Half a year before the whole world gets to know it. Lucky me! The fans are waiting, I know it from BasiaWeb. Two Islands or It's That Girl Again. One of the titles. Or maybe another one? Let it be. The recording sounds like London Warsaw New York II, which was the greatest commercial success, so why not? We talked about everything. About life, music, children, grandchildren. What she says is interesting and beautiful, so don't miss Saturday "Zlote slodsze i najslodsze", but most of all Smooth Jazz Cafe Station on Tuesday at 9pm CET. The whole interview then. Pictures, autographs, little talks to fans - they are all around the place every time. Relive. And a little "dispensation". Lithuanian cold borsch, Polish duck for Basia, but only a half portion, and steak for me as usual. With mushrooms. Yummy. It all goes with Shiraz from Australia, as we both like it. What a day! The pressure is gone. Not my dream any more, as it happened a moment ago. More pictures and more about music on Saturday, I hope.
