First video for "Prime Time TV." Since the single came out two years before it did in America, Basia looks pretty different!

Marek Niedźwiecki scored an amazing in-the-studio with Basia, Anna-Maria Jopek and Kayah. Here is a set of photos from Marek's blog documenting the event.

I love the idea of some unsuspecting shoppers running into this performance unawares!

A segment filmed for TVP Polonia. Particularly neat is hearing "A Gift" played just on piano. Also, earrings! ;)

We don't have a tour to see for now but maybe these clips from Polish TV can satisfy for a short while anyway.

The new EPK has been uploaded to YouTube. It's a ten-minute mini-documentary and it's pretty great. What I wouldn't give for one in high-def!

via smoe.org/lists/basia My personal favorite Basia TV interview of. all. time.
Krysia and Marcus in a labor of love brought these clips to YouTube of Basia live at Sala Congresowa in 1994, broadcast on Polish TV Channel 1 later that year. Let's just say they are AMAZING:Let's occupy ourselves with this roundup of the latest uploads to YouTube-- thanks to Mark, Marcin and the others for the alerts!
Bev Okin-Larkin shot these short but sweet gems live in San Antonio when Matt Bianco stopped there in 2005. New Day for You, Half A Minute. So cool, thanks Bev!

Way, way, wayy too cute a video from 1988-- I'd love to see the oversized suit come back. And Kevin looks the same as now, which is crazy. What is this show, anyway? The set reminds me of old Arsenio but the audience is way too large. Another show from Europe, maybe?
Unfortunately I can't read Japanese to learn more about
Basia as a flapper. That's really all you need to motivate you to click this link, doncha think?Labels: Matt Bianco '84, video, YouTube
The video for "Half A Minute" has found it's way onto YouTube (thanks to Frank Johnson for the alert). This track, later covered for Basia on Broadway, was well-received by jazz-dance club DJs at the time, though the English pop world had figured MB were just a novelty act after the runaway success of "Get Out Of Your Lazy Bed". But this video shows Matt Bianco were in on the joke, too, and winking right along. And this first look at Basia as lead vocalist would prove a glimpse of things to come.Labels: Matt Bianco '84, video, YouTube
Much to my surprise I read today that the venerable UK music show Top of the Pops is dunzo. Let us take this opportunity to remember the one time Basia, Danny and Mark were featured on it, shall we? It's about five seconds long but we do what we can. RIP TOTP.Labels: Matt Bianco '84, video
Long ago a bunch of fans gathered up their videocassettes (remember those?) and their LDs and sent them to the one guy who had the equipment in an age before iDVD to dub them onto CD-ROM- and thus the Basia Video Project was born. Our esteemed site founder, Ben, then got everyone hooked up with their own copy. The fandom rejoiced.Labels: Matt Bianco '84, teevee, video, YouTube
Someone is going buckwild uploading videos to YouTube so I thought I would alert you to them since they are not to be missed. "Promises" is far too cute to not be in the Eighties. "Time and Tide" is good fun ("Basie?" "It's Basia."), and "Baby You're Mine" is one of the most gorgeous video clips they ever did. Meanwhile in the twenty-first century is the clip for "Ordinary Day," apparently liberated from the Matt Bianco site, and further proof that Basia doesn't really age like most mortal women. EDIT: ALL of these clips have been removed. You know, it's a shame that this material won't be enjoyed by people because of rights paranoia. This stuff has been "lost" for years-- or were never played where actual fans could enjoy them-- so why not give them the light of day, instead of shoving them away to nowhere in the name of copyright.

Thanks to Geoff Davies for a tip that CD Japan are selling the A New Day DVD for a far more reasonable $28US (approximate). As with all import purchases, be an informed consumer before you buy, as you need to have a region-free player to play this vid.Labels: Japan releases, video
Wow, I want to be in a place where MTV plays Basia and calls it a classic! Wherever this was, Spotted on the HMV Japan site is the DVD edition of the 1990 A New Day video. It includes the Time and Tide and London Warsaw New York videos and a portion of the interview done with Basia for VH1, back when they were cool and played music. I know, hard to imagine. Being a Japanese release, it's presumably encoded Region 2, and you would need a region-free player to enjoy it. The cost is approximately $50, or 5300 yen, but mostly for shipping.
